Makeup Schools – The FAQs

By Vicki Morgenstern

Welcome to "Vicki Morgenstern's Guide to Makeup Training" - the only web site on the Internet that provides information for comparing schools specializing in the field of makeup-artistry based on a series of interviews with the directors of the training centers.  The schools included in this survey have been categorized into three groups, namely, domestic full curriculum schools and master classes located in North America, and international schools located throughout Europe, Australia, and Asia.

Full curriculum schools are post-secondary vocational centers offering training for all applications of beauty and character makeup, including prosthetics and animatronics.  Master classes differ from full curriculum schools by providing working professionals the opportunity to update and upgrade their skills by participating in a series of specialty workshops and seminars, presented by industry leaders.  They teach the latest trends in products and technique for their application to the new media technology such as air brushing in the digital age.  The international schools offer both full curriculum programs and master class series.

Makeup artistry can be an exciting and challenging career by virtue of the personalities that place themselves under your brushes.  Makeup artists are hired to shape the image of actors, news anchors, musicians/entertainers, models, political figures, athletes, authors, and industry CEOs, just to name a few.

To begin your search for training in makeup artistry, start by accessing one of the three categories above and compare how the schools have replied to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding their programs.  Then access the links directly to the schools that are of primary interest.

Good luck for a successful career in make-up artistry.
